How will carbon exchanges shake out?

There is no question that the carbon market is booming, and will likely continue to boom. All this money has brought new entrants into the market to make markets for the trading of carbon futures and derivatives. As with any competitive business, there will be winners and there will be losers.

NASDAQ to sell emissions derivatives to its equity clients

NASDAQ wants to leverage its existing equity trading customer base as it tries to get into emissions derivatives trading. NASDAQ ended up buying Nord Pool ASA because they calculated the fastest way to enter the booming environmental derivatives market was to buy an exchange, not build its own. Read more
